More fan mail

The first response I got to this morning's column wasn't what I expected.

But the second one was.

"Do you even follow the MLS. This is the most outlandish, ridiculous post i have ever seen. It's fairly clear to everyone who knows anything about the MLS that RSL will be a top team in the league this year and a top prediction for MLS Cup and the suporters shield. Get a clue before you start making such bold & ridiculous statements. You ruin soccer here."

I should thank that guy for the good chuckle I got. I'm also going to keep his email, so when RSL misses the playoffs I can send him a proper response.

RSL miss the playoffs? Are you absolutely mad? Do you even read anything about the other 14 teams in the league, or just the goats? RSL is going to put the hurt on the entire conference... they'll battle it out with Seattle for the Western berth in the Cup. Please pay attention, you're embarrassing yourself...

LOL, that guy must be joking. It must be a sarcastic email. I mean, not saying RSL won't or will do well, but come on, he tells you not to make bold predictions and then does them himself. It HAS to be a joke..lol

Its funny because if someone would have picked the Crew to win MLS Cup last year, they would have been laughed at. And last year DC United was a safe bet to make the playoffs.

Well, I think you're wrong about Gomito and Emilio, but seeing as how DC have no defense to speak of, you're probably right about the whole last place thing, so there's no point getting worked up about it.

I dunno dude, saying RSL is going to miss the playoffs may be taking it a little too far...

Luis, there's a big difference between RSL and last year's Crew and United. First, United got hit with a lot of injuries and their imports failed miserably. Second, the Crew sustained no injuries and noboby anticipated how good Robbie Rogers would be, nor how important Brian Carroll would be, nor whether Chad Marshall would return to form after a career-threatening concussion.

RSL has several things going for it: good young players, a steady defense (Rimando, Olave, Wingert, Beckerman as defensive mid), legit offensive threats in Morales and Movsisiyan, and one of the better (and unheralded) coaches in the league.

Frankly, that's a lot more than most of the teams in the West -- including the Galaxy and Chivas USA.

I think RSL will win the conference. The rest of the West is a total crap shoot (even Houston, which is aging as we speak and might not be able to replace DeRosario right away).

I would guess anyone would get upset if they said their team would fail to make the playoff, considering how easy it is for teams to do so in the MLS. But then again RSL does suck.
