Americans in Mexico: J17 review

Mexico's regular season is over and as such so are some of these players' campaigns. Of our lot of 4-5, only Michael Orozco's San Luis and Edgar Castillo's Santos sides reached the playoffs. Pachuca and Jaguares were eliminated as were Chivas, though Jesus Padilla has hardly played for them this season and probably wouldn't have played much in the postseason.

Here's a look at how they closed out their seasons:

Jose Francisco Torres: Did not dress for Pachuca's 1-1 draw with Atlas. I'm guessing he missed the game with injury and thus was not called up to the US national team.

Michael Orozco: Played 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in the 21st minute in San Luis' 1-0 loss at Toluca.

Edgar Castillo: Played 90 minutes in Santos' 0-0 draw with Atlante

Daniel Hernandez: Started and played 54 minutes of Jaguares' 4-1 loss at Cruz Azul. Hernandez was booked in the 43rd minute and picked up a second yellow card and subsequently ejected in the 54th minute.

PRIMERA DIVISION A
Sammy Ochoa: Started, played 90 minutes and scored the only goal in Tecos' 1-0 win over Real Colima.

Sonny Guadarrama: Dressed but did not play in Merida's 2-1 loss at Pumas Morelos.

Noel Castillo: Dressed but did not play in Indios Chihuahua's 4-2 loss to Queretaro.

Carlos Borja and Jesus Padilla: Tapatio had a bye week.

Fyi, Jesus Padilla was on the bench for Chivas this past weekend but didn't play.

A few other Yanks who've played in the Primera-A this season but were DNPs this week:
Jose Gonzalez & Miguel Gonzalez, both Chetumal
Gustavo Ruelas, Santos
Miguel Ponce, Chivas

good to see daniel hernandez hasn't changed much since leaving MLS. that dude was decent and could be stellar at times but just always ended up being a thug by commiting ridiculous fouls and getting ejected.
