Mexico released its roster for Wednesday's game against Ecuador in Phoenix, and the biggest name here is Nery Castillo. It's not a surprise but rather a necessity. It remains to be seen how his long layoff has affected him, though. He hasn't been part of El Tri since March.
Edgar Castillo was one of the players called up for this game. Castillo has been called up by Sven Goran Eriksson before but has yet to play for the Swede. Perhaps this will be his chance to earn more call ups and more playing time.
Also, the squad does not have any Guadalajara players since they beat River Plate on Thursday and will play Internacional of Brazil on Wednesday in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana semifinals. And of course, with the exception of Nery, no Euro-players.
Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Moises Muñoz (Morelia)
Defenders: Oscar Rojas (America), Edgar Dueñas (Toluca), Leobardo Lopez (Pachuca), Julio Cesar Dominguez (Cruz Azul), Fernando Lopez (Necaxa), Fausto Pinto (Pachuca), Edgar Castillo (Santos), Jorge Torres (Atlas)
Midfielders: Fernando Arce (Santos), Jaime Correa (Pachuca), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Israel Castro (Pumas), Francisco Torres (Santos), Israel Martinez (San Luis), Antonio Naelson "Zinha" (Toluca)
Forwards: Nery Castillo (Manchester City), Matias Vuoso (Santos), Cesar Villaluz (Cruz Azul), Carlos Ochoa (Monterrey), Francisco Fonseca (Tigres)
