Newcastle interest

In recent years, several English clubs have been purchased by American investors with teams like Manchester United and Aston Villa in the hands of Americans.

Philip Anschutz apparently wants in on the action. Anschutz, owner of Anschutz Entertainment Group, is in the running to buy Newcastle United, as Grahame Jones of the LA Times tells us.

As usual, all the news is coming from across the pond as AEG, who own the LA Galaxy, is tight-lipped about any connection between Anschutz and NUFC. But one exists apparently. Anschutz would have to cough up $245 million to purchase the venerable English club.
