No strangers

Cruz Azul and Atlante will renew their postseason rivalry tonight in Mexico City. Cruz Azul upset Pumas while Atlante dispatched of Tigres in the quarterfinals.

A year ago, Atlante won the Apertura 07 title and knocked off Cruz Azul on the way. La Maquina will try and get past the semifinals for the second consecutive Liguilla (they were beaten finalists in the Clausura 08 season) but must do so against a stingy and opportunistic Atlante side.

Cruz Azul's attack may be coming together. Miguel Sabah and Cesar Villaluz each got a taste of goal-scoring glory on Sunday as they scored second-half goals in a convincing 3-1 win over Pumas. Cruz Azul needs to take advantage of tonight's game in Estadio Azul, though. Atlante have proven to be quite difficult to beat at Estadio Andres Quintana Roo, having lost just once their during the regular season.

The last time these two teams met was in Cancun, and Atlante overcame an early deficit and tied Cruz Azul 1-1. Here's highlights from that game.
