Don't ya just hate it?

Don't you hate when a supposed quality addition to your team underperforms, leaves and then goes on to do well somewhere else?

DC United fans might feel a bit upset over a former player of theirs who fits this category. Marcelo Gallardo came in with high hopes a year ago but by the end of the 2008 season the club could not wait to get rid of him and his high salary.

Gallardo has regained his health and his form and punctuated that with a goal in the toughest scenario, down a goal at La Bombonera against Boca Juniors. Gallardo's equalizer helped River Plate earn a 1-1 draw with their hated rivals.

That's the risk that most people don't account for when they start calling for "big name signings" and "south American playmakers"

Too often, this league doesn't get the respect it deserves, and some players are happy to cash in their checks and come take a 6 month vacation in MLS.

Home grown talent, baby. Just grow more of it, and better.

I agree with Hammer ,besides the Argentine league isn't exactly highly competitive as it was, when a lot of old guys like Palermo are still a factor you know thing are not too good

Maybe his team mates at DC sucked and made him suck. Or his team mates at River are good and it makes him look good? LOL.

Kinda like Beckham and galaxy, wouldn't you say?

High salaried player comes to play with a bunch of decapitated chickens and a bunch of unrealistic expectations from delusional "fans", and you've got your self a comedy gold mine.
