Donovan update

This morning, the Press-Enterprise ran my latest column as I tried to help my PE readers catch up with Landon Donovan and his trails and travails.

A few hours later, we found out that his chance apparently has come and gone. Donovan was included on Bayern's Champions League roster but did not even make the bench for Bayern Munich's game against Sporting Lisbon.

I'd say the tone of the column would change now if I had to re-write it. I'd say I'd have a better chance of learning to speak Mandarin Chinese in two weeks than he does of staying with Bayern Munich.

At least now that's over with and we can all move on to preparing for the Galaxy's season.

Almost. There is that whole Beckham thing that's been in the news of late.

goes to show how much you guys in the know really know... sorry, don't mean to diss you, lb, but it seemed too obvious...

i know a lot of you guys really wanted donovan to prove something about the mls in europe, but an mls phenomenon is all he really is... donovan's just not that good, particularly when you compare him to the rest of the world...

i mean, yes, he has ridiculed the mexican back line time and time again, but, hey, who doesn't do that?

an mls product is all donovan's going to be...

^^^Yep, but also the economic downturn also has clubs saving instead of spending.

Gotta love the Donovan haters...always there to kick him when he's down. Oh well. He comes back, scores some goals, ends up in Europe eventually. Not the end of the world.

I think that he would do better in a Spanish or Dutch League.
