Eduardo Lillingston apparently speaks English, but he preferred to talk after Sunday's game in Spanish. I had my digital recorder closer to him and further away from the translator but there is some English thrown in there if you need the help.
Anyway, here's Lillingston talking about the game and MLS and telling me he was going to enjoy the win before thinking about the Galaxy.

Shaping up
A little update on Chivas USA and some potential Mexican players.
* Arturo Ledesma may or may not make it here. It's not certain whether he will be here at all, as had been rumored. And you can pretty much forget about Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Jesus Padilla. Hernandez has been doing quite well in limited time for CD Guadalajara, and they're not about to give him up. Padilla, who knows what rolls around in his head? I just don't think the guy wants to be here. He'll probably be a Tapatio player forever.
* Eduardo Lillingston is all but a part of the squad. In fact, it's not a question of if the team will sign him but rather if he will start the season opener. It's good too because he's just a hard-working kind of guy. Not flashy, not particularly fast but just a guy that knows the game and works hard.
* Mariano Trujillo played some with Chivas USA this weekend. He was in camp last year as he was "training" with the team. At least that's the story we got. Seems there was a bit more to it than that as now he's here looking for a job. I'd like to see him get an honest chance of winning a job and fighting for a spot because I think he can be useful too.

One survivor
Chivas USA returned from Guadalajara with Eduardo Lillingston in tow. Lillingston will have the chance to show his worth to coaches in Saturday's games against Hammarby and UCLA.
The skinny on Lillingston: he's played with Tecos, Santos, Tigres, Toluca and Atlas. He spent the Apertura 03 to Apertura 08 seasons with Tecos. Overall, he's scored 57 goals in 258 games. He's been used mostly as an option off the bench in his career, though, as he's only started 118 games. He's 31 years old.
Lillingston is an interesting player but won't be a difference-maker if he stays. I see him as the fourth option at forward at best, with everyone healthy of course. But that's where he could be of value. If players aren't healthy, Lillingston will be someone Preki can turn to for an experienced option off the bench.
Also, the club wants to bring Arturo Ledesma up as well, but Ledesma is under contract with Guadalajara, so there are some hurdles to overcome before that happens. Ledesma would add good depth in central defense, particularly since Claudio Suarez is not around. Not sure what the deal is with Suarez but he's not signed and not in camp, though not officially retired.
